Few series have caused me so much impotence and discomfort like this one, the way in which the characters develop next to the plot is impressive because we managed to see the intensity of suffering and pain of a group of women who have been mistreated and humiliated.
A story based on real facts that tell in the hardest way the reality of many women today, who constantly suffer the abuse of frustrated men and abusers.

The Plot.
Initially, the series begins when a beautiful young woman reports that she has been raped and assaulted in her home by a stranger, but if that fact were not enough to completely unleash an intense story, the series takes an even more frustrating and incredible turn when no one believes the accusations made by the young woman. Basically the police initially conduct a bad-faith investigation where they do not find "enough evidence" and therefore begin to dismiss the allegations to the point of starting a clandestine campaign to socially pressure the girl to withdraw what she has said.
From that point on, the series really begins because we see the whole journey of a young woman who, besides being abused, raped and assaulted by a man in her house, is also discredited and pressured to shut up and go on with her life bending her head. Fortunately, two women investigators continue with the investigations and are gradually uncovering a whole network of abuses and rapes of underprivileged women.
This is a series that has a story that is advancing little by little, to finally reach a magnificent rhythm where we were caught in an impressive way, making us want to see more in each chapter by all the good elements that have been developed along the plot. The way we see the treatment that disadvantaged people in street condition receive is heartbreaking because they are like society trash and that makes us have a huge empathy with those people because of the kind of abuse they endure on a daily basis. Plus, the whole investigation process that the two cops carry out is great, we see how they suffer for their victims, something that gives them energy and motivation to catch the rapist psychopath who has been doing what he wants for a long time.

The Characters
The series has a story that comes to life on its own thanks to the excellent way in the characters manages develop. Characters who feel real, who transmit their pain, their sadness over a system that has abandoned them and especially a set of characters who give their best to deliver a real story that seems even more real with the passage of minutes.
The duo of investigators does a fantastic job, showing the commitment, pain and empathy they feel for victims who are generally treated as marginalized and who for years have been forced to shut up. Tony Collette and Merritt Weaver form a spectacular duo complemented each other and giving us that sense of strength while we see how the rest collapses, both women give real performances, dedicated and highly credible because they really transmit pain for the victims and complement it with an incredible desire for justice that make latent in each dialogue of their performances.
In general the whole cast does a fantastic job, even the cops get us to hate them easily and quickly for their sexist behavior full of wrong thoughts about women. But there is no doubt that one of the most remarkable performances is the one of Kaitlyn Dever that shows emotion, sadness and pain of a young woman who besides being raped is being questioned and socially destroyed by her economic condition. The young actress perfectly demonstrates the feelings and attitudes of a destroyed woman who remains courageous in extreme situations.

Is it worth it?
This is a super intense series for the heartbreaking and sad performances it offers us. Performances developed by fantastically interpreted characters that shock us in each dialogue when they tell their story.
The truth was not expecting something so well done and with a sense of realism that resembles a documentary. Everything in the series is perfectly taken care of and placed to contribute something, nothing is set just because, all the details make it intense and addictive because in the end we only want justice for women who have suffered such unfair violations.
The series undoubtedly represents a clear critique of a justice system that often prefers to take the road and ignore disturbing facts according to the social position of the complainant. Criticism, criticism and more social criticism is what defines this series, but above all a series that exhibits the harsh reality that so many women keep to themselves.
