So, you want to play some HoI4, but have no idea, what to do?
Here is a walk through, how/what to write in an AAR for this contest and also a mini tutorial on HoI4 (With Road to 56 mod, sorry)
Let's start in 1936, as this would lead to the easiest option to get Warsaw.
We will be playing as Germany, this was our task, remember?:)
Now for the difficulty settings.
Choose, whatever you want.
Easiest option is Civilian with Strengthen Germany.
Feel free to change this according to your mood ;)
In my last offline game as USA, I strengthened Germany and Italy, to no result. Need to increase them more next time.
Historical AI let's you play without any bigger surprises.
Those 4 research options are always my first ones, as they give you enough push to build more industry.
But here you don't need a lot of industry, this is a short campaign. Again, feel free to let your imagination run wild.
Let the game run a bit, after 14 days, you have enough political power, to justify a war against Poland.
It will take 250 days, finished in September.
Enough time, to increase our army size.
Time to train more divisions.
This is also not that important, as Germany has enough troops, to conquer Poland.
Hmm, come to think of it:
"Conquer Poland, without any improvements of any kind, no additional troops, research or ideas"
For Political Advisors, we only want the military ones, that give our army a bit better push forward.
Division Attack is very important to us, we are on the way to Warsaw, remember?
Once you have over 5 Army XP, invest into one more regiment for you infantry layout.
This brings your combat width up to 20, which is my preferred one. There are others, claiming 40 is better, I doubt it, but could never compare it.
And here we are, 21. September 1936 ..
When Germany declared war on Poland.
The battles are pretty straight forward.
Don't get surrounded.
Which is near impossible in our layout.
24 Divisions on the Eastern Border, 24 in Ostpreussen and 12 as a push directly towards Warsaw.
It took us 9 days, to conquer Warsaw.
Now we have to finish it off.
Basically just send tanks or fast troops to victor points out there.
And another 9 Days later, we did it.
Mission accomplished!
What do we take from here?
AARs are easy!
And fun!
Even with such a simple task, one can achieve greatness...oh, wait, that is a bit far out there.
