Can we understand this God?
He who is the very embodiment of equity, fairness and justice and dispenses justice as he wishes?
He who is love personified
He who is everywhere, yet His throne is in heaven and the earth is His footstool
Can we understand this God?
He who brings one down and exalts the other
He who chooses the base things of this world just to confound the wise
Will we ever understand this God?
He who is Omnipotent and Omniscient; in fact He is all things to us such that we cannot describe Him with all the alphabets combined in words
Evidently He is the Alpha and Omega
His ways we can never come to comprehend
Can we understand this God?
He who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit!
He who is man and God
He who died and rose again and lives forever
Can we ever understand this God?
He who designed and created the heavens and the earth
Made man in His own image and likeness
Came in the form of man just so our sins could be atoned for
Died a vicarious death for you and I
So we can have life and have it more abundantly
Will we ever comprehend this God?
His ways, His mercies, His grace, His love!
He who is wisdom personified?
See how he crafted humans?
In His wisdom He made the Asian, the African, the American, the European……all peoples of the nations with their diverse skin colours and languages!
We can never understand God
Not in this our un-glorified bodies
Not in our limited perspectives
He is God and He is not to be understood
He is only to be trusted!
(This poem was inspired by my brother Richy. He lost a classmate from his year group ‘Adisco 15’ and he expressed this sentiment ‘at times it’s difficult to understand God’- it is well.)
