How To Convert YouTube Viewers to Email Subscribers with a Free Course and ActiveCampaign Forms!
Are you ready to see my complete system for converting viewers on YouTube and anywhere else people are watching my videos, over to email subscribers that then I'm able to contact, make sales, get started watching my courses, bring into calls, build a deeper relationship with?
This is a beautiful system that I am setting up for you in real time after years of research and getting this into just the right formula that is going to work.
The key thing to do beforehand is to plan all of this out, to deliver something in return for joining the email list that has real value to figure out a strategy, to actually promote the videos and to get people to find the videos in the first place.
What I do on YouTube is I make tutorials like this relentlessly. These get a lot of views. Then I've got a screen built into OBS that I use as I record.
Look at this.
I put this somewhere in the new videos, plus I'm able to put a URL that scrolls in annotations. This is my basic system that I've got to do this and I'll show you how I actually put it into my website with ActiveCampaign in real time.
I've got a page at Jerrybanfield.com/freecourses/ that I've spent years getting people to that's already ranked in search results and makes the perfect place to put an email collection form.
I put an email form on here along with the list of my online courses.
It says, "Get one of my courses for free when you join my email list."
I already set up the welcome email to give out a coupon in ActiveCampaign. When someone joins my email list, anyone, even if they're a customer and they've already bought something, then there's a $9.99 coupon.
I've set a coupon that gives $9.99 off of any of my online courses on my website, which then you redeem that. You get the coupon code after joining my list, go back to my website, redeem that, and then you've got a free course.
This is a system I'm using and these little cards are really helpful on YouTube to bring that up and mention, especially in the outros of the video, but I can even put them in in the middle if I want to.
Here's how I designed the actual system to do this.
I have three different key parts here. This is inside my ActiveCampaign account. This is inside the WordPress dashboard on my website. This is Canva where I designed this free thumbnail.
I designed this in just two minutes in Canva. It's super easy.
I put the URL I want people to go to up top, then the basic instructions. I want every part of the process to be very transparent because there are people watching my videos all over the world.
I want for somebody in the USA, the UK, Pakistan, Africa, Asia, to be very clear exactly what you do, exactly where you go, exactly what you get out of my offer.
You go to this URL, which is on here twice. You check the email, you take the code, you pick a course, click on, "Take it" and put it in your cart. Make that super clear, that way no one can be confused.
Having a thumbnail background like this is very important to actually mention it during the videos, wherever possible because that's the highest call to action.
Once I've got that thumbnail, I stick that into OBS, and then whenever I want to mention my free offer, I just hit the button on my keyboard to bring that up.
That was the first step I did, after setting up my email list.
Here's the actual page on my website that I will edit.
I already set my email list up.
All I need to do is go into ActiveCampaign now and take a form.
This may not be the prettiest way to do it and I may upgrade to some other nicer looking optin form. However, this is the simplest and easiest way to get started with this.
What I do is I need the short code to put on my page, all of my online courses and I can grab that easily by going to another page on my website.
For example, I'll go to my homepage.
I'll click "Edit page," then I'll grab the short code out of here.
This is in LearnDash.
This is how I actually put the courses on my website.
What I do now is I'll search for the free courses page in the upper bar over here on my search. This doesn't bring up pages, so I just enter the URL and on here Jerrybanfield.com/freecourses/.
It takes us straight there and now I click on "Edit page."
I had an old setup here while I was promoting my videos and previously I was promoting other platforms and now what I'll do is just get rid of all of these.
We'll go through and remove all of these, I don't need any of these old video courses on here.
I just want people on my email list taking courses.
I'll delete everything else I've gotten up here and now I just want that short code.
Now when I click "Update," what you'll notice when I go to view the page, you'll see a list of all of my courses sorted in the order that they've been modified.
What I do next is I need to put up a email form on top of this that says, "Subscribe to take any one of my courses for free."
I'll click back on this "Edit page."
Now I need the email form out of ActiveCampaign.
I'll go over to ActiveCampaign and in the left sidebar I click on "Forms."
I need a new subscribe form.
I've had lots of old ones.
We'll click on the upper right "Create Form."
I have inline forms. All I can do is the inline form, which is fine. I don't need these floating box or modal forms.
What I want done is to subscribe to a list. I want them to subscribe to the Jerrybandfield.com list and we will call this, "Jerrybanfield.com Free Online Course."
Click on "Create."
Now I've got a basic form here that I can use and just put on my WordPress website and instead of putting "Subscribe for email updates," we'll edit this to say, "Subscribe for Free Access to Any of my Online Courses."
Now, I can put this with more clarity on here.
I'll say, "As soon as you subscribe, you will be emailed a coupon to take $9.99 off of any course purchase you make."
I could put a URL in if I want, but I don't need to do that right now.
We'll just put "Full name," and there we go.
It's a very simple form.
Unfortunately you can't make it any bigger.
Now, once we've got all this setup, I click on "Integrate."
Now that I clicked on "Integrate," I'll go over to WordPress and I could put this in directly with the ActiveCampaign plugin. I can do it directly with the link. I can also put this with a full embed here.
We're going to click on the "Full Embed."
I'll go back over to the page, and paste the HTML in there.
I update and see what happens.
Ah, look at that, it works.
Now that looks terrible. That looks terrible like that.
What I can do is get a custom opt in form, which is what I'm going to do, that looks a lot prettier. This is the default ActiveCampaign form.
I also can put a link to join it in and that might be a better option.
I can just put a button to go straight to that form.
I'll edit this because that form just looks horrible.
We're going to remove that and we'll put in a button or a call to action.
I want a nice call to action block on here.
I can go through the common blocks. I can put in a nice button right here.
This again looks ugly and what I'll do is replace this with a nicer opt in box, but these are some of the basic options.

A big, huge long awkward button.
I think it looks better than that nasty embed form.
What I'll do is replace that with a nice one. I can change this and put green on here.
That looks fine, I click on "Open in new tab" and click on "Update."
I'll actually center this as well.
Now we're going to make this look a lot nicer.
Oh yeah, now it's not spaced out right.
I can take off this header if I want to. I can put this in as its own heading and take off that, so we'll paste this over here.
What I'm doing is I'm hiding this header up here. I'll disable the title, then this will be centered so that this looks nicer.
Then we'll add a spacer down here below. I'll use formatting layout elements there and put a nice little separator. It's nicer to have a spacer. I can just remove that and put in a spacer right here.
Now these are a couple of different ways you can go about this.
I recommend to have a nice beautiful looking opt in form. This is very functional and when somebody clicks on it, it opens a new tab with the subscribe form.
It's functional, but what we'll do is get a plugin to put a lot nicer. I could design one with Elementor that would look beautiful and put it in here.
Unfortunately, the course grid does not work with Elementor.
I'd like people to see what courses I've got on the same page. I think it's essential if you want to do something like having a free offer that you make it clear all the options.
I'm saying, "Subscribe to my email list for free access to any 1 of my courses."
I want to show you exactly what those courses are when you're considering subscribing.
I also don't want a sidebar on this page to distract from the whole experience because this is a key conversion page.
Therefore, I can simply turn off the sidebar with Astra and it'll look a lot better.
When I view the page now, it will not have any sidebar on it and all my courses are much bigger and look better here.
Then there's this button and I imagine this with a beautiful optin form up here.
The key thing is you can see exactly how to create a form in ActiveCampaign and to set up a free offer like this to put it out on YouTube. I recommend use a free online course because this is a really good offer to make to somebody.
Then, if you've got like me lots of online courses, I want you to get in the habit of watching my online courses because once you've watched that first course, then I bet you're going to want to watch another one.
In order to do that, you're already on my website. You've already enrolled. You already know what the experience is, it's very easy to have a purchase after you've already got access to that first one.
Therefore, you want to give access to something that ideally is identical to similar offerings that someone would pay for.
