It was a dark, cold, cloudy night. Michael was out of cigarettes, so he informed his wife that he was popping out to the shop. In his rush he left his phone behind. The shop was only 2 minutes from their home, but as he was leaving, it began to rain heavily. 30 minutes past and Michael was still not home, his wife began to worry. Finally after 40 minutes he came home, minus his shoes and coat.
On his way home, Michael had encountered a homeless stranger who was barefoot and coatless. Michael, being the kind, generous soul that he was, gifted the man his own shoes and coat. He then spent a little time conversing with the stranger and sharing his cigarettes, refusing to leave until the stranger had agreed to stay the night at the local homeless shelter.
What took Michael so long getting home?.... He accompanied the stranger to the shelter, to make sure the older gentleman got there safely.
This is a true story about my brother-in-law who is sadly no longer with us. Michael is best remembered for his great generosity.
This incident inspires me to attempt to be the best version of myself, when I'm in doubt, I always think, WHAT WOULD MICHAEL DO?
