Sergey Brin, one of Google's creators, said that some of the hazards should not be ignored in the 'artificial intelligence renaissance' we are in.
Sergey Brin, the creator of Google, said that the artificial intelligence's development would not only produce good things. Google's parent company, Alphabet, is doing great work on artificial intelligence. However, in the founding letter published every year, the company said that some of the dangers of the 'renaissance' period in Sergey Brin should not be ignored.
Brin said that when Google was founded 20 years ago, artificial neural network technology was forgotten, experts turned their backs on this technology. Now, the technology uses a lot of artificial neural networks to keep the contents of the photos in perspective and to explore new outer planets.
Ethics should be preferred rather than money
The threats that artificial intelligence is expected to create are automation, justice and security issues that have been mentioned many times before. Alphabet is involved in initiatives such as DeepMind Ethics & Society and Partnership on AI and is funding this initiative to remain a leader in this 'ethical evolution' of the field.
Balancing ethical use and monetization in the field of artificial intelligence will be a challenging task. For example, in the last month when Google was working with the Pentagon to design computer vision software for drones, thousands of employees signed a letter protesting the project. Google and all other companies that develop artificial intelligence have to take responsibility for keeping in mind the areas where this technology will be used and avoiding attempts to harm people or the environment.
