We often talk about AI changing the way we work, communicate, or create art. But now it’s also helping people start families.
A couple from the U.S. has welcomed their baby into the world—thanks in part to AI-assisted fertility technology that helped detect a viable sperm cell where traditional methods had failed.
The parents, who struggled with male-factor infertility, underwent a treatment involving AI-enhanced Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). The technology, developed by Fertilis.ai, uses artificial intelligence to scan and identify the healthiest and most viable sperm cells—even in extremely low-motility samples.
Doctors say this innovation can reduce human error, improve fertilization outcomes, and offer hope to couples who previously had little chance of conceiving with their own genetic material.
In this case, the father’s sperm count was extraordinarily low, and manual attempts to identify a viable cell had failed. The AI system detected one single, healthy sperm cell—leading to a successful ICSI procedure, pregnancy, and eventually, the birth of a healthy baby.

This isn’t just about a single successful birth. It’s a milestone for reproductive medicine and a glimpse into how AI can radically change life outcomes in areas we never imagined.
