Great leaders are great communicators. Not only they communicate effectively with 'others' but more importantly they have mastered their own communication with self!

How much in control are you with your inner self-talk?
Is it empowering or limiting you?
Fact is, this is the only voice which will remain with us till the end. Hence, it better be positive and inspiring. The trick is to 'watch our own thoughts' at all times and control the narrative.

Are you fully focused on others when communicating?
How much are you letting the other person talk?
How good are you at storytelling?
When communicating with others - be more of a 'listener' than a 'speaker'. Listen carefully for underlying thoughts, emotions, feelings. Try not to get caught up in the story, but instead focus on what lies beneath the story. Trick is to use 'effective questioning', listening and 'recapping'.
A big part of communication is about being 'in the moment', 'observing', 'listening' and 'self-regulating'. By doing so, leaders are able to positively influence others to discover the best in themselves and strive to achieve more!
