Which end of the spectrum do you relate more as a Leader?
As a Leader you are so focused on results, that you don't give enough space to your teams to take ownership and grow.
As a Leader you are so focused on giving autonomy to your teams, that at times teams are left struggling to figure out their own way.
Both extremes are ineffective and leaders must strive to strike the right balance. There are times when you must distance yourself from your teams and there are times when you must step close and guide. The idea is to be flexible depending on situation and maturity of the teams.
Some thoughts on how to balance?
Inspire team with the vision and clearly articulate the big picture. Let them know how they are contributing in achieving that.
Clearly communicate the desired objective and then step back, letting the team arrive at 'how' to achieve it.
Mutually agree on the review process and stay committed to it.
It's not an easy act for leaders to strike the right balance at all times. The idea is to be aware, reflect and review own style from time to time.
