I've decided to play a little game while enjoying my journey to the moon onboard the SS IOTA. (Told all my friends to buy at .39 a couple weeks back. None of them listened....)
Here's the game - I'm testing a little low-cap Altcoin strategy I've been refining working on and want to put it to the test.
Background on the little Altcoin Game
Overview
I want to test out, and refine my approach for finding smaller cap coins to invest in. So in doing so, I spent time researching one set of coins (see part 1 below) and then randomly selecting a second set of coins based solely off of name (see part 2 below).
I will be tracking these coins daily and recording their movement weekly from now 12/5 - 1/1. Each coin I've marked down as a yes, will be given a $250 dollar investment. Group 1 coins has a total of $1,500 invested, while Group 2 as $2,500 invested.
I'd love your thoughts on how you think these will preform after reading the information below.
Part 1:
I've gone through and selected 11 coins, 10 of which fall between 200-300 in Market Cap Rank. I ran some high-level "qualitative research" on them, and decided if I should buy them or not. Things I took into account include:
- Market Cap - Looking mostly between 5 - 18 Million in market cap.
- Their Development Team
- Use Case - Do I see the value and would I possibly be a user of the coin.
- Long-term Potential
- Social Activity - both from the company and from others in the community.
- A couple other misc. things

NOTE: I believe Siacoin (SC), HIVE (HIVE), and Agrello (DLT) are the early favorites in this little experiment, expecting them to carry the majority of the portfolio.
Part 2:
From there, I then went and randomly selected 10 coins all of which ranked between 300-400 in market cap. I choose these at random, only taking into account their name (I know better than to trust HTML coin...kinda)

Predictions
I'll be honest, I have zero clue what to expect. This was a 15 minute game I through together to get me to start expanding my research a bit. That said, I expect Group 1 to grow about 60% between now and the new year. There are a couple coins in there primed to grow as 2018 draws near, but I fear that a couple of the coins may hinder our growth a bit.
Regarding Group 2 - I mean I really have zero clue, but for fun I'm going to say these will see a -25% return.
