Just got this card from my dealer, looks like it deserves at least a small overview before I'll make it sweat 24/7 in a mine.
What do we actually get for ~$250?
First is an actual Brown Box. Can't really remember the last time I get any new electronics in such a colorful and seducing package. But we are doing business here, so that works fine. Size of this box is really small, it is just 1.5 longer 1.5 wider and 2 times thinker, than the card itself.
There is one lone information sticker on the side.
RADEON RX 470 4G GDDR5 PCI-E DVI-D (UEFI)
PN 299-2E353-710SA
SKU# 11256-21-21G (this last one stays for Non Samsung Memory version)
Inside the box we find no surprises (rather than a !Driver Disk! in the year 2017, which is really ridiculous and environmental unfriendly for my taste).
The card's cooling system is borrowed from RX 470/570 Nitro+.
First major difference from the gaming version is the only on video output (DVI-D). And overall look of the rear panel is very generic and looks sloppy designed. And it doesn't do the only trick miners really want: no enlarged exhaust grill, so no better cooling.
Nothing interesting from a side of PCI-E x16 interface connector:
Other huge difference against RX 470 Nitro + is the lack of rear plate protection. We'll see, if that makes any sense.
PCI-E power connector side is nothing interesting either.
Actual mining tests will come a little later.
You are welcome to ask me for any details, if you are interested in this article or the card itself.
