One can lead a horse to water, but one can't make it drink.

Some thoughts I have recently had, when friends, family, or strangers ask me to explain how I came to a position I might take, or an opinion I might make, (even though I most frequently do attach links to media that I am referencing), and all I can do lately is just heave my shoulders in a big sigh, and generally don't have the energy to respond.

So, I fall back on the old adage I recall from childhood: One can lead a horse to water, but one can't make it drink. Contrary to the popular meaning of that analogy, to me that means, the horse knows if the water is contaminated, and that is water that I also shouldn't drink. Horses are sometimes smarter than humans.

Horses know they are smart. Humans apparently don't know that. Seeking truth is a journey, and it's wobbly, and painful, and contradictory and there is no end at all in the seeking. Some of us are just seekers and apparently some, perhaps most, are not. But we are all capable of being so.

So, like the horse when facing contaminated water, no matter how great the thirst, be sure you are firm in your truth. Far as I know, this life is what you got for now. Do your best with it.
