This afternoon, I gave a presentation to a group of students. It was called 'Veganarchy - why veganism and anarchy are the only choices for an ethically minded person'
I started by saying that I lived in contradiction and that I had eaten more meat ands dairy in my life because I was more than double their age.
I then went on to ask then what they thought anarchy was. The usual answers came up - chaos, lawlessness, doing whatever you please having no rules. I would have definitely said the same at their age. It's amazing how the word like so many others, has been corrupted. I explained that it simply means no RULERS. I talked about the non aggression principle and I said that for me, it extends to all sentient beings.
I then showed them this film which I think is extremely well put together.
I am not sure what they all felt although I did get some feedback that many were shocked but were positive about the session. The 'president' of this society I was speaking to was clearly offended by the graphic scenes and language in the film. I found it very ironic that he complained about the graphic scenes and language when this is actually what is taking place in many countries in the world including the UK.
It reminded me of a recent incident outside Mcdonalds, where someone complained to the police because i had used the words 'jerked off' to describe what they do to Bulls, as she does in this film. Never mind that Mcdonalds are complicit in this act of molestation and the brutal slaughtering of millions of beings, he was offended by a couple of words! And the police are threatening to prosecute me!
Its January and I don't know if any of you have heard of Veganuary but theres still a couple of week for you to try out a vegan diet. Do on - I dare you! give them poor animals a break!
Comments welcome.
