The Brushtail Possum is the most common of the possums.
Like most Australian mammals, it is a marsupial, meaning it has a pouch to carry its young.
Most Possums are nocturnal and the Brushtail is no exception, hiding in its tree hole or roof cavity or anywhere else dark and cosy it can get into. They can be quite a nuisance when they are in your ceiling.
Extremely shy, they take to the treetops at the slightest disturbance.
