There was a time when sorrow and loneliness was the norm. It was not a bad thing, it was by no means a worry; it was just part of the day. A drink here or there, a poem written as an anonymous writer screaming into the void, and a stroll through my garden were the usual antidotes to these feelings. It was nothing out of the ordinary.
Then, from nowhere I received the message that would change the course of my life. Not that my life was on course towards something, by no means at all. In fact, there was no course at all. It was more of a wandering through space, an aimless floating in the abyss that opened up every night when the thoughts doubled and tripled in weight with the moon's arrival.

She asked me a simple question, one that did not lead to anything in particular. But both of us knew from that moment on that the course of our lives would change. After three years, neither me nor her could have predicted this. Or at least, we hoped that we could predict this.
Now, we are both 3's or threes. Three, to me, looks like half an eight. Or, three symbolised - 3 - looks like half of an eight symbolised - 8. And eight is just an upright symbol for infinity. So, I thought we were on our way to infinity. Or we are.
For a couple of months now, we were looking for a particular bottle of wine. She told me about this bottle, from a musician who makes his own wine. Being an artist himself, every bottle of wine has significance. Their flagship wine is called No. 42, referring to the Douglas Adam book, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The bottle we were looking for was No. 8, or rather ∞. It is a beautiful bottle, with intricate designs. Proof is in the pudding, so I will taste this bottle and decide if the wine is poetry itself. Maybe I am setting up this bottle for failure, wanting it to be poetry concretised. But I digress.
We are two halves, two threes combined to make an eight. On our way to infinity.

The sun will set tonight, like so many other nights. And today will mark another year in which our lives interconnected, intertwined, like roots growing through our hearts. Roots that wrapped themselves around the infinite eight of the wine bottle.
Our journey has just begun, and infinity is a long joyful one that I will walk with a girl I could never write.
