Whenever I see anyone advocating for diversity in hiring I always wonder why they eliminate one word from it: forced.
What the proposal means is that regardless of merit or even convenience for the company, they should hire people in the top management. What this means is that reduce the merit of the current team to appease to a certain constantly whining set of people. Basically virtue signalling at the cost of efficiency.
Businesses should not care about the race of it's employees. They should hire based on merit alone and nothing else. If the top then ends up being only white, male, black, female, hispanic or transgender, so be it.
Progressives trying to re-introduce race based discrimination is not surprising, but it is good to see that Apple shareholders know what's good for the company.
