The
biggest problem you always have with remote management is finding the way to connect, often the device is behind an NAT router and the centralised matchmaking services charge quite a bit for this path negotiation service.
Well, now, with just one little application, you can have inbound access to any machine:
Zerotier creates a new virtual network and assigns an IP address, which is routeable to any node connected to it. There is more advanced possibilities including running your own root servers. With this installed and running, and connected to a network, any other device connected to the same Zerotier network can connect to servers running on the machine, like VNC servers, for instance.
I am in the midst of preparations for relocating as my visa runs out soon and I didn't manage to organise any way to extend it, so I have decided to leave my miners with my friends, and pay their electric bill, rather than move them around, especially considering how profitable mining ethereum, lbry, zcash and decred are at the moment.
A little tip if you are going to use this - edit your /etc/hosts
file (in windows it's under windows\system32\drivers\etc) and paste in the IP address of the Zerotier from the computer you want to be able to access, and give it a memorable name afterwards, and you can use this shortcut instead of the cryptic IP address.
