What was once a sugar factory has been remarkably transformed into a hotel called Alila Yangshuo Hotel and built by the Chinese studio Vector Architects.
The 1960s building now houses the hotel's bar, lobby, gallery and library. The new buildings with rooms are arranged around a submerged square, they were built using contemporary versions of the methods and materials used for the plant.
The palette of raw colors meets the intense green of the forest, a monumental bamboo sculpture completes this sublime renovation.
