Briefly:
We're going to be hearing a lot more opinions about cryptcurrencies soon, from bankers, and various 'talking heads' on tv, cable, etc. Oh yes....we're just getting started. Below are two links -- pros and cons/arguments. It was nice to see Peter Schiff and Max Keiser have a rational discussion, though Max, as always went on one of his rants half way through. The other link concerns the co-founder of TenX. He makes some good points about what cryptocurrencies are 'backed by' ---points which can be used trans -laterally for fiat money, precious metals, etc.
No one has an absolute answer, but it's good to at least be armed with knowledge and a good argumentative angle.
