In the year 2000...
I was growing psychedelic mushrooms (Psilocybe cubensis) and marijuana in a trailer in Alaska and the art I was making reflected that :) I spent a lot of time on pen and ink drawings of figures composed of many smaller faces and figures.Fast forward to 2019 and we are preparing to move out of the house in Oregon that we have lived in for the past 16 years. In the process of emptying out drawers and cabinets I just found a trove of old art from my psychedelic period. I will probably end up sharing a few pieces here on Steem blockchain, starting with this little number (titled in my characteristically sloppy handwriting toward the bottom of the piece).
Out of the light came darkness and all at once I could see...
Some Details
Lots of stuff here. A knight looks at a dragon in front of a castle at the bottom of the drawing. That whole scene is pretty small and not very well detailed honestly. Some kind of catmouse face in profile with a neck ending in a human face in profile is the negative space to the right of the knight/dragon/castle and above the title.
The hips and torso of the main figure (bottom left of the drawing) form another landscape, a church with steeple and cross viewed through a cutout in the abdomen of the main figure.
There is a moonlit cemetery and the suggestion of a tree and some bushes in front of the church.
The path from the church looks like it could possibly connect with the path to the castle.
The left shoulder and upper arm of the main figure is a taken up by what I think is an elf, or maybe a magician. I added a splash of color to it tonight in PhotoShop just for fun.
This elfmagician is shirtless with a cool cape.
Looks like the elfmagician's right arm just kinda melts into his hip instead of a hand.
The left arm of the main figure ends in a hand that has faces instead of thumb and fingers, and dripping out of that hand is a three-headed figure with another face in its torso, and a blackhole sun instead of a hand. Another section that isn't very well detailed.
Black spiky flame type things connect the blackhole sun here with the blackhole sun at the top of the drawing.
The negative space to the right of the main figure's left arm is filled with two more faces.
worked my name "Carl" in just above the forearm of the main figure.
A fat squashed nose big chin Elvis face in profile is the negative space to the right of the main figure's head.

It was quite a trip leafing through these old drawings tonight. A few of them I partially colored with colored pencil. Maybe I will finish coloring these some day :)
