Gametrailers.com use to run 3D Modeling competitions in 2009. Their goal was to see what people could produce given only 24 hours using Blender which is an open source 3D designing software, essentially free for anybody. Each contest had a theme, and you were allowed to create anything as long as it was related to the theme they chose. The winners were voted on by the viewers rather then judges and there were cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place as well as bragging rights throughout the gametrailers community.

- Prizes:
- 1st Place - $200 and an exclusive GT forum badge
- 2nd Place - $100 and an exclusive GT forum badge
- 3rd Place - $50 and an exclusive GT forum badge
These are my prize winning submissions throughout my time spent on gametrailers. All of them were made in under 24 hours, I hope you can appreciate my creations as much as the GT community did before their website faded out of existence.
Room with only 1 source of light - 3rd Place
Musical Instrument - 2nd Place
Micro-Humanoid - 3rd Place
Video Game Vehicles - 2nd Place
Anime Scenery - 2nd Place
This is the first 3D model I ever created in Blender.
- Final thoughts:
If you have any interest in 3D animation or design, I highly recommend starting with Blender as it will teach all the fundamentals without burning a hole in your wallet, it even runs on Linux. Once you know how, its no harder then riding a bike. If someone wants to pursue arts, I say go for it at full speed. Always want to, never need to.
