My photography will, for the first time in several years, be featured in an exhibition within meat space. My image Life Beyond the Blade was successfully selected to be on display as part of the I See You / You See Me exhibition at Gallery 1855, Tea Tree Gully, South Australia.
The only reason I had an opportunity to submit my artwork into this art show, part of the South Australian Living Artist festival in August, is due to diligence. Since I started photographing people, and things again more regularly a few years back, I've been slowly researching the sorts of galleries, competitions, and other art prizes in the region I reside, and adding them to a list of "perhaps one day".
Recently, one of those came through as an exhibition to feature portraiture - and on the merits of the work, I've been accepted. The physical work will retail for $500 AUD, with the gallery set to take a commission if the piece sells. The physical work is a matted 11x14" print, as pictured below.
This work is also a NFT on the Ethereum blockchain, and its available on Rarible right now. I've recently reduced the price of the tokenised work. There's 25 editions available.
I'm quite pleased to see my work in a real world gallery soon; and will be interested to see if it sells in a retail gallery. In the event that it doesn't, I've got a piece of art in my hallway. It may even migrate to the wall behind me, so that my co-workers can have a daily reminder that one day, I'll be behind a camera full time, instead of a spreadsheet.
I See You / You See Me will run from Wednesday 11 August through to Saturday, 2 October 2021 at Gallery 1855, 2 Haines Road, Tea Tree Gully, South Australia. If you're in South Australia, I would love to see you take a selfie with my work!
