This is a painting that I did for my girlfriend a while ago. I painted this while experimenting with new background ideas, mainly in subtle color blends and brush strokes/textures, trying to creating subconscious focal points. The subject of this painting is a little cupcake snail, something I've played with before and plan on doing again, I just love combining animals with food (generally desserts). I didn't do a great job with the composition of this one, and painted the snail more so on the left side of the canvas then I was hoping to, but sometime these things happened when you're going freehand. I tried to make up for it by adding the beams of light on the right of the shell, which coincide with the direction the snail is looking. Overall I'm happy with this one, but I will be painting another cupcake snail at some point. Hope you all enjoy the painting and I'll have more to come.
