Oh Look ! There is more art on the Hive frig. 😂
So I loaded my photos, tried to choose a fairly minimal amount and then did some chores, ate my supper and watched some videos, while I was waiting for something else to talk about. LOL !!! I got nothing. I have lived a LONG time. I have done and been a part of a LOT of things. Surely there are gazillion stores in my brain to tell and yet, nothing would step forward. Oh well, maybe I'll think of something interesting tomorrow.
Until then, get out the refrigerator magnet, we're going to show more art. I know, is it really art? Is it not? I can't answer that, only you can answer it for you. Whatever it is, making it is lots of fun.
I've shown before many ways I make collage papers, hand painting with brushes and stencils, prints from my gel plate and for sure it is ALL fun. Some papers may turn out So-So, but sometimes I make some I really like.
The background paper and MOST of this little fun art is a piece of black mulberry rice paper that I printed on my gel press. I really really liked it, the way the blue, with it's small bits of grungy white, stood out against the black. The stencil that caused most of the design was new too and I was impressed at how it came out.
"They" say not to become precious about papers and different parts of paint and paper art, but I can't help it, once in a while I simply like something enough, not to want to tear it up into little pieces. I decided to make a piece using this as the major part of the design. I didn't know what I was going to do with it exactly, but I started by tearing it in half'ish, but then still using both pieces. Now it had an little interruption. I had torn the edges off the outside of the paper too, so the fibers would spread out when I glued it on and and smoothed the surface to make sure there were no bubbles.
I knew I did not want to cover the majority of the background, but I also knew I needed a contrasting focal point, so I played around with some other papers I had. I liked the way the odd green piece with the circle cut out of the center looked with the blue, so on it went. I also punched the smaller circle out of a magenta and yellow paper. I meant for it to be round, but the punch didn't quite complete it, causing there to be an odd knub on one side. I decided to go with it as it was because, why not??? It almost looked like a tiny jug of some sort, so I punched a small circle of yellow and later two more circles with yellow and magenta and added them. That way they could relate to each other and pull the color of the "jug" out a little.
I was pretty pleased with how it came out. I kept most of the neat painted paper I had created and still made it a valid paper collage. I thought it looked extra nice in the black frame. It's the same frame I photographed some of the previous ones in. I am looking for a source to buy some somewhere that are like it and hopefully in some other colors, at least white, but more would be fun.
Since I didn't have an alternate topic to add, I decided to share a piece I consider a FLUB ! LOL.... That's what I like calling it... you know, like when you flub up. It has a really neat background paper, not one I was precious about, but it was still pretty neat. I added a thing.... and then another thing and then.... I kept trying to change it's direction without over loading it, but I flubbed it up. To my eyes it is way too busy and anything I added only made it worse ! I finally called it done as in, I"M DONE WITH YOU !!! 🤣
It didn't care one whit what I thought though. I don't love it, even though a few small areas were neat'ish. It just didn't come together in a way that pleased my eye. It has been hanging around now for a couple of weeks and I've tried to ignore it. I don't know what I will eventually do with it, but it may include a total paint over.
Time will tell, as it aways does.
It's Friday of course, but feels like Saturday since I got off at noon. I have run the dish washer and the clothes washer twice and have done a few other small chores. No wonder it feels like Saturday instead of Friday ! The good thing is, I won't have to do any of that tomorrow. Wooooo Hooooo !
