This weekend I've been playing around in my art, like usual.
In the last week as I shuffled my collage papers around and around, some of the pieces sneakily gathered in groups so I would see them and think they belonged together. Of course I didn't realize their ploy and thought they fell that way quite randomly.
Originally, just the big orange background, the larger blue piece with the tiny white/orange pieces were centered together and I thought that is how it would be when I connected them together, however, the yellow round and the smaller blue piece had fallen separately and I thought they would be together on a different piece. When I started to lay it out though, I realized they would make a more interesting design if I mixed them, so I did. I included the orange/yellow/dark blue piece and the white dot to balance it out. It is a different design than anything I have accidently created before and I liked it.
When I as putting it together though, I got to this point and was giving a it a few minutes to dry a little and during that time I wondered if it should be left like this, more pure color and shape.... on their own.... saying whatever they say. It kind of felt warm. In the end as is obvious above, I chose to add the other pieces anyway. The addition of the white makes it pop, but it also has a different vibe.
I made one more new one earlier in the week. I thought it was done, till Friday night, when the row of black circles was added to the upper left. "Done" seems only be a thought in a moment.
Friday night's real fun challenge to myself was to go in the "not done" box and choose some pieces to try to figure out how to finish. These are the ones I worked on and actually did finish. I like them. When I look at the purple and teal one on the upper left, it makes me think of a tower, with birds flying around the top of it. It appeals to me.
They are laying on top of an unfinished painting. How appropriate!
The unfinished box got a little lighter this weekend. I did start a a couple of more that are not done yet, but they don't count, because they are current and I will work on them again tonight.
I'll be doing my Sunday thing shortly, getting dressed and going out to Mom's for a Sunday visit.
