Hi! I will share a quick and simple inverted drawing of a cat. I am very fond of doing inverted art because it is much more convenient for me than having to draw from a black paper. I usually choose subjects with a dark background so the need to invert a subject and draw from there is a really big make up for
me.
I recently discovered Unsplash, a free stock photo site where we can download lots of beautiful images and
use it for personal and commercial use without attribution. Since then I have collected numerous amount of
images for drawing purposes. I can't put into words how thankful I am that I stumbled upon this site where a
lot of users share their own photos for free. I feel like, now I can maximize my time drawing them.
Well, I found this image of a face of a cat on a dark background uploaded by Hannah Troupe, and I decided to draw it.
Materials:
- Graphite Pencils (8B, 3B, HB)
- Colored Pencils (Blue, Dark Blue, Violet)
- Drawing Paper
Here are some work in progress shots:
PS: I haven't documented the rest of the coloring process because I started taking plain shots of the
drawing which I included below.
Here is the progress of my drawing shown side by side on a normal shot and on a negative filter.
