Hello Fellow Steemians!
Today I want to share a portrait I made of supermodel Archana Akhil Kumar, an Indian Model from Bangalore who is taking the fashion world by storm
She participated in the Lakme Fashion Week 5 years in a row and has graced the covers of numerous magazines.
She is quite the beauty isn't she?

The reason I decided to paint her is simply because dusky and darked skinned ladies are not celebrated in India. Its a sad reality, so as a dusky woman , it makes me happy to see such beauties killing it in the entertainment and fashion industry.
It's high time India stopped favouring only one fair skin tone as the standard of beauty.

Process:
The first step to making my art pieces is always making a rough sketch.
Then I added the base colours for her hair, skin, eyes, lips, jewellery and clothes.
In the next few steps, I built on the colours using the reference picture as a guide. The idea is to create volume and make it look as realistic as possible using tints and shades and highlights.
Then I finished up the background, added minor details and VOILA!
So right after I was done making this portrait I uploaded it on Instagram and within an hour or two the supermodel herself commented on it!!
My first reaction was to scream, I was SO happy. This portrait took me MONTHS to finish, and the response made it totally worth it.
This portrait is very close to my heart, because of the sentiments attached to it. Dark skin ladies are beautiful, its high time Indians understood that.
So what do you think? Let me know in the comments section, I'd like to see conversations happening. :)
