So I have spent the last two day, for about 12 or so hours, working on this painting. It's a fun tribute to Frank Frazetta and Robert E. Howard (My favorite artist and one of my favorite writers). Red Nails is the name of a Conan the Barbarian story in which Conan faces off against an ape man in a red cape (no spoilers there, the story has been around since the 1930s). You may have remembered that that single moment from the story "Red Nails" was poorly adapted in that one scene of Conan the Destroyer. Here is my painting:
I was really trying to channel Frank Frazetta for this image and I didn't rush this one like I normally do with paintings. Sometimes I rush them because I feel I need to finish an idea in a single sitting. I like the colors and the pose and everything with this. I guess I'm surprisingly, mostly happy with something I painted (that's rare).
Thanks for checking this painting out!
Edit:
The story this is from is actually "ROGUES IN THE HOUSE" not red nails. My bad. I just had those two stories confused since there is an ape man in both.
