Good afternoon, STEEMIANS!
I love Gustav Klimt's body of work! And as a self-taught artist, I like to challenge and immerse myself into the works of the greats. It's the only way to get better as an artist (in any niche) and that is to practice what has gone before. Perhaps one day I'll discover my own style but in the meantime, this is Lady in the Red Silk Scarf!
Painting facial features in small spaces/faces has always been a challenge for me. I had her eyes open at first, and it looked decent enough, but of course I'm a perfectionist and wanted it to be perfect, but it was one brush stroke to many. The poor woman's face is thick and lumpy with paint from the amount of times I tried to correct my error.
Eventually, I gave her a red eye patch and put her to sleep while walking. I guess you could say she's sleepwalking! LOLL!
The colors of this painting are richer in real life but the lighting is so bad in my makeshift studio!
