Happy winter solstice, which I want to celebrate with a new piece of art which I call Portal Scorpion.
It depicts a very detailed, bio-mechanical scorpion in a bit of a gloomy setting, in the process of opening up a portal to a beautiful space nebula. Is this relevant to the solstice that brings us colder temperatures but also longer periods of daylight?
Nah, probably not. But in my heart it relates to the breathtaking night sky in winter which I look forward to all year. The air is usually crisp and clear and shows the spectacular centerpiece of Orion in all it's beauty. As a kid I always fantasized about having a magical bed that turns into a little spaceship with a glass dome, in which I would cruise the galaxy at night and travel through colorful nebulas and whip around planets similar to Saturn. Yea, they must have rings and a bunch of moons.
I guess being able to open a portal to a striking space scenery is still a superpower I'd like to have, and until I'll be able to manifest this mundane skill, creating artwork about the subject is the next best thing.
Enjoy and Merry Christmas and happy whatever else you celebrate.
