Good evening my fellow Steemers!
This morning I got a HUGE surprise from my mom! Every now and then she sends me boxes full of either food ( No I am not starving ) decoration or crafting supplies! This box was full with Easter nom nom noms and a lot of crafting projects!
Bless the mailman for waking me up at 8:15 and not having the decency to wait for me to get out of bed and just dropping a box of supplies before my front door and leaving! It took me give or take 30 seconds to jump out of bed and get to the door! Oh well, I said a few bad words, hit my toe because why not and stumbled back inside closing the door behind me

I found this amazing charcoal set inside the box and it made me smile from ear to ear! I never really used it before, so I was crazy in my head with ideas from the moment my eyes met the black sticks! In the past, I have tried a few lines here and there but never got myself into using it the right way. So, with a racing heart from joy and a lot of happy thoughts I created the saddest thing in my head!
I draw and paint what is written in my soul and this time I had these sad feelings after looking at pictures of my dad! He died June 1 last year and the wound is far from healed. I felt like he was rubbing my shoulders while I was working on this drawing! It made me feel so close to him and it honestly felt like my hand and fingers did the crying my eyes normally would.

I don't know why I make it so hard on myself all the time! I always have trouble with faces, I never used charcoal before so, why not make a portrait right? I made the base with a normal pencil and used some gray ecoline paint to have a base of the face.

Charcoal TIME!
Finally, time to play with my new best friends the sticks! I used the round charcoal sticks because I found out on youtube they are the easiest to work with for a beginner! I was surprised with how they work and how marvelous they blend!

I am going to dive in as deep as I can to learn how to use the charcoal! I am happy with the end result! For a first try and a portrait... Yupp I am happy!
Thank you for reading my post!
Best wishes
