Today let me share my current drawing which I did 2 days ago and up till now I haven't finish it. The reason why I don't want to rush this drawing, I want to feel comfortable doing it and not to feel stressed and in a hurry. I am expecting by doing this, I would be able to create my drawing to achieve a decent portrait.
Most of the portrait that I used to draw before was chosen by myself so it is much easier for me to draw reference from the internet. I can filter high defenition photos and now doing and practicing drawing using costumer's own choice of photo was kinda hard. There are times that I needed to edit their photos to enhance it's structure and details. One of my biggest wickness in drawing aside from shading was the angle of the face.
Recently, I practice the basic rule for head angle with this basic technique which I saw online. Here is my drawing of the front and side view and please excuse my freehand sketch. The front view is a lot easier that's why I did 2 sample.
The side view was quite harder 'cause it has a lot of structure needed to be known. As a newbie this technique would really be a good help to understand how the basic body structure was. This is what it looks like before adding the other detail of the head.
This drawing serves as a good warm up before going back to work. It enhances the hands capability to move in lighter motion. Below are the progress of my commision drawing. I used vellum board A4 size with graphite pencils and charcoal powder.
As usual I start to draw the eyes, eyebrows and her glasses. It is my first time to draw an eye glasses to it is so new to me. I didn't know if I did it right but I'm crossing my finger though. I also did shading using charcoal powder and make up brush.
Those are a truly a great help as I'd still in the process of learning how to achieve smooth skintone which I was so obssesed to learn. I'll be back for the final look maybe tomorrow. Thanks for dropping by and keep safe.
