Dear Readers,
I'm very excited to announce the release of my first AsyncArt solo artwork called "Fly Files".
AsyncArt
If you haven't lived behind a curtain, you certainly have heard about this innovative new approach to #cryptoart, that opened its doors about a month ago with the historic collaboration The First Supper.
The layers and master of this collab of thirteen different crypto-artists has been sold for almost 370 ETH, which at the time of sale was worth more than $80,000.
While the main focus of @asyncart after the successful launch was opening up to more artists (you can apply here), each of the founding artists were invited to create a solo work (or collab) within a month. Gladly taking that opportunity I came up with the idea of my "Fly Files".
The Fly Files
As you can see, the work basically consists of different kind of "fly heads", that I combined with things like a spider-hat, afro-wig, gas- and purge-mask, and last not least a GAN generated AI-head.
While I usually create things, that I find visually appealing rather than thinking too much about the possible message, it was definitely challenging to create so many different head states, that still needed to work combined with the overly athletic bodies and the fractal backgrounds.
Meaning?
After starting to post a few previews of the different states at my twitter-timeline however, it became quite obvious, that people instantly had associations with the movie The Fly, in which a scientist turns into a fly after a failed teleport experiment.
I also had to think of the famous novella The Metamorphosis written by Franz Kafka, in which a salesman wakes one morning to find himself "inexplicably transformed into a huge insect".
Thus, I wrote a somewhat pompous and not entirely serious description:
"The work deals both with the question of the ethical limits and dangers of scientific research, the philosophical and sociological consequences of a transformation and not least with the question of what actually distinguishes us humans from insects."
I even found a short poem called The Fly by William Blake from 1794, that fits quite well.
Exhibit and Auction
The artwork will be revealed this weekend (20/3/27 - 20/3/29) in Cryptovoxels at Coldie's "Get Out While You Stay In" Art Experience.
I will be around daily between 2pm and 4pm PST during the event. Check out this Cent article for more infos!
If everything works as expected, the auction of my "Fly Files" will start on Sunday, March 29th at 3pm PST.
