The Tang tri-colored glazed pottery is a kind of polychrome glazed pottery at low temperature popular in Luoyang and Xi'an during the Tang Dynasty. It was firstly discovered in the Tang tombs in Mangshan Mountain, Luoyang, in the early 20th century, and was named for the main glazing colors, yellow, green and white. It is a new craft developed from the monochrome glazed pottery at low temperature during the Han Dynasty and Caowei Period, and has its own originality.
Sancai is a versatile type of decoration on Chinese pottery using glazes or slip, predominantly in the three colors of brown (or amber), green, and a creamy off-white. It is particularly associated with the Tang Dynasty (618–907) and its tomb figures,[2] appearing around 700.[3] Therefore, it is commonly referred to as Chinese: Tang Sancai in Chinese. In the West, Tang sancai wares were sometimes referred to as egg-and-spinach by dealers, for their use of green, yellow, and white. From Wiki.
