Phnom Penh is the capital of Cambodia and is situated at the confluence of the Mekong, Bassac, and Tonle Sap rivers. Cambodia is a constitutional monarchy, and the King of Cambodia, Norodom Sihamoni resides here. The murderous communist regime, the Khmer Rouge, controlled Cambodia from 1975-1978. Vietnam occupied Cambodia after they defeated the Khmer Rouge in 1978, until the monarchy was restored in 1992. Cambodia was by far one of my favorite trips, Angkor Wat being the highlight.
1: Oudong Mountain: The base of one of the stupa. I love elephants, so I'm biased. Stupas typically contain relics or remains of religious figures or royalty. The most important stupas are claimed to contain relics of the Buddha himself.
2: Oudong Mountain: A small building with some offering bowls outside.
3: Oudong Mountain: The Damrei Sam Poan Stupa atop Oudong Mountain, said to contain a relic of the Buddha, an eyebrow hair.

5: Oudong Mountain: Stupa of one of the former kings .
6: Buddha Arthross Temple Temple of Eight Points, named for Buddhism's 8-fold path.
7: Royal Palace Complex: The Throne Hall. This is where the king meets with guests, and where major events such as coronations take place .
8: Royal Palace Complex: Moonlight Pavilion. This is the venue for the Royal Dancers, who perform Khmer classical and contemporary dance.
9: Pradal Serey is the Cambodian martial art, similar to Muay Thai.
10: Statue of Krom Ngoy, a famous Khmer poet and singer, beset by two elephants.
