When the Sun passes through Scorpio -- which it does every year between about October 23 and November 22 -- it marks a time of reflection and inner assessment. You can work with this natural set of themes by design -- and get a heck of a lot more out of it when it comes to living consciously and understanding your place in the world.
Or, like most people, you can assign this piece of critical psychological growth to the background ... where it takes place on the inner realms of your being. That way, you don't have to be bothered with it. You don't have to acknowledge that it's happening. You don't have to understand it on purpose in any way.
You don't have to even admit that it's real. You can continue to just muddle through -- and be cool with that. But this assessment happens regardless. In fact, it's unavoidable. As a spiritual being, you are a part of this process of growth and evolution, whether you like it or not.

I've always found the process of knowing myself, understanding myself, fascinating. So much that I like to understand that kind of depth about everyone who's important to me, too. (In fact, I'm almost narcissistically obsessed with it. To the point that I'm sometimes self-conscious about how closely I study and observe the people I know.)
Socrates spoke as a profoundly kindred soul when he said -- "The unexamined life is not worth living." To which I can only answer, Amen. Fervently.

So ... during Scorpio, you take stock of yourself -- and all that's important in your life, especially the relationships you depend on and the communal investments you need for survival. Survival is one big damn deal to Scorpio. The seasons are changing.
In the Northern Hemisphere, Winter is coming -- and you need to make it through those months until Spring returns ... again. In the Southern Hemisphere, you'll be emerging from Winter ... and you need to get ready for the year's work ahead.

It's time to consider how you've changed since the last Season of Scorpio. It's time to consider how you may need to change further -- to become the person you need to be to continue this Journey of Life. Change is the one constant thing Life brings to us all -- and in Scorpio, that fact comes home with a vengeance.
We cast off the parts of us that are worn out -- the tired and no-longer-appropriate self-image, the useless ideas, the projects that are never going to come to fruition, the connections and commitments that are no longer useful -- and that are too hard and too heavy to carry further.
We break connections. We close out investments. We cut our losses -- or harvest our profits ... and move on. We replace, renew, renegotiate, revise.

Scorpio is the phase of serious editing in the Creative Process of Life. What we take from it into the future are the things we've judged we will for certain need some time between now and next year.
This process of culling and improvement takes place regularly -- for everyone -- around this time of year. Every year. Year after year. It affects -- almost certainly -- two specific areas of your life.

The slice of the circle covered by Scorpio in your horoscope shows where this is happening and what will be most affected.
It will be different for everyone -- and what happens there (and during this time) will be different, too. It's an essential part of Life's complexity -- and its beauty ... and its value.

For me, the Season of Scorpio brings a major transformation in my goals for the future. It sweeps out the projects and commitments that aren't returning a decent reward. It refocuses my vision of the future I want to create and the kind of world I want to help shape.
It may change the people I'm associated with professionally -- and the like-minded thinkers I want to line up with instead. It adjusts and improves my philosophy of where we need to go and what we need to do next ... as a society. It defines the part I think I'm to play in that.

A huge amount of Scorpio's work, however, for me takes place backstage, behind the scenes -- inwardly, in the background of life. Much of it even takes place underground arguably -- in the deep recesses of the subconscious where creativity has a vast and prominent influence.
This starts around October 27. (Yep. Two days ago) I emerge from that around the 15th of December every year, literally renewed as a person -- with different plans, different perspectives ... reborn -- and improved. Ready to hit the expansion prospects of Sagittarius -- my Rising Sign -- running.

Somewhere, somehow this happens for you, too. With reasonably similar timing. If you'd like a bit of insight into this piece of your personal growth, talk to me. They've got this thing on Steemit called "Comments."
I can tell you some of what's going on with just your usual birth data stuff -- day, month and year. If you can give me time of day and place as well -- we can hit the bulls-eye. Interested? Then you know what to do.

I had different plans for this post -- but it kind of went in another direction. My Inner Writer sometimes has her own ideas about what to put out -- and I've learned when she takes hold of the wheel to just step back and go with it.
So, I'll publish this today -- and get busy on the post I intended to write. And it will all circle back and get finished -- eventually. In its own time. I have become so zen in my old age. Learn faster than I did, ok?
TTYL.

If you've always known there was more to Astrology than Sun Sign material and the three line daily horoscope in the newspaper, climb aboard and follow this blog. You'll find a world of wisdom detailing how you were designed to work with life ... and why you are the way you are -- all in quick-to-read, easy-to-digest-and-remember, written-in-plain-English essays that offer plenty of food for thought.
Little by little, I'm doing a set of articles that talks about all the elements in your horoscope and what they have to say about you. If you "know something" about Astrology -- or know something about your chart placements, that will help you get more from this material.
If you don't ... well, this is one place you can learn. We all have to start somewhere ... because we aren't born knowing this stuff. Meanwhile, if you've never seen your horoscope ... and don't have a clue how to work with it, maybe it's time to find out. There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.
One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: AstroLabe. I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, time and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.
Or, if you want to get serious and really talk about this, upvote this post and start a conversation in the comments section sometime in the next six days from the time of publication. We'll go from there depending on what you want to know.

Questions about any of this? -- Upvote this post and talk to me in comments. It's a terrific way to build value for yourself and the community ... and it will give me ideas of what to write about in future posts. Believe me there is lots to say about the way The Sun, The Moon -- and all the other elements in a horoscope, all the other components of Astrology -- work together to interpret you and your story -- and what it all means to the person you've become.

Although sometimes the background pictures in our visual essays support the topic and text, they don't always. Sometimes the connection is clear. Sometimes it's symbolic and subtle. Sometimes, there's no connection at all.
The scenes depict landscapes and natural features, buildings and wildlife. They were chosen because they show something lovely or interesting ... or simply because the photo appealed to me.
Our spectacular and remarkable planet is changing at astonishing speed. Rarely are these changes for the better. Few people seem to know ... or care ... or have the will and power to do anything about this. It may not be long before the world humans have known and lived in for centuries is forever lost. We certainly won't be able to make repairs as fast as we destroyed it.
So a few years ago I began collecting pictures of the way things were ... and still are for now, a record of the beauty we have while it is still ours to love and honor.
The photos here are part of that collection, with sincere thanks to the artists who saw these moments ... and with their cameras ... preserved them. All of us at Enchanted Spirit are profoundly grateful to them for their generosity and skill ... and for the added grace, depth and dimension their art brings to ours.
