"Greydon Square is a rarity, nowadays. He's an artist who lives and breathes the scientific method, from his lyrics, to the names of his tracks. He uses unusual lyrical techniques to spew out songs focusing on science, its impact on society, and how little America actually concerns itself with its accomplishments or necessity. He also is an unabashed atheist, and his music makes this very evident. Highly recommend this artist." - Jason Taub
Peace peace everyone. Glad to be another link among the blockchain. If you are unfamiliar with my creative expression and thus oblivious to who I am and what I do, let me hit you with the bullet points.
I was born to a 15 year old drug addict and 19th year old gang member in Los Angeles of 1981 just prior to the drug and gang violence epidemic to follow shortly thereafter.
Due to my parents not being at all fit to raise a child coupled with reports of neglect and abuse of my older sister, my early life situation found me a ward of the state by the department of children and family services.
In my time growing up in the system, I experience a great deal of hardship as several of the facilities I found myself in had many reports of abuse and predatory behavior. I would often run away to the streets to escape the harsher realities of group home life.
In one of the early group home facilities I found myself in, I discovered my love and appreciate for the creation and composition of music, specifically, the piano.
Because I grew up in a hotbed environment of gangs and drugs, I ended up being influenced by gangs myself, and thus having my first run ins with the law around 12 years old.
Fast forward to my teen years and through multiple stints of juvenile hall, I found an opportunity to enlist in the United States Army.
I enlisted 5 months prior to 9/11/01
I was Deployed to Iraq.
I spent time in Europe.
I was redeployed to Iraq.
When I returned and finished out the length of my military service, I decided to go to school for Sound Engineering to learn better how to make the music I was so passionate about.
While in school for Sound Engineering I decided to change my major to Physics.
Influenced by my newfound educational focus, I began to write music including topics covering, physics, chemistry, mathematics, logic, while being unafraid to scrutinize or critique subjects thought once taboo within the urban community from which I sprang. Particularly, religion.
Here's an example of what I do:
While writing these songs about religion and science, I got the attention of some VERY prominent thinkers. Likely some with books on your bookshelf at this very moment.
Because many prominent secular speakers and writers were into my music, I was invited to perform along side some of the
biggest names in the community.I decided that being known for rap wasn't enough. Legacy was becoming more and more a focus and goal. Grand Unified was born.
We expanded outward. In all directions. Creating different sub-collectives throughout the community itself.
Today, Grand Unified theory the collective has thousands of members all over the world. Our primary focus, was use our creativity to educate and inform.
10 years later, we're celebrating our 10th anniversary at a gathering in the nation's capitol early next year.
It's actually been quite the journey, and to honest, I left SO much out. But maybe, that will allow me a part 2 to create. More detailed.
