- The British House passed in the third reading a law on the limited autonomy of Scotland region. However, foreign policy, defense, economic policy and taxation continue incumbent exclusively by the British government in London.
- A committee of the Swiss Federal Council presented the draft of a new Constitution in Bern. She is taken by the 119 articles substantially shorter than the valid Constitution and provides for a strengthening of the federal social and economic powers. The population has full 16 months to comment on the draft.
- In Ankara, the Turkish Central Bank evaluates the pound against Western currencies by about 15%. Just six days later there will be another devaluation by another 33%. The central bank justified this measure with the poor economic situation of Turkey.
