Friday:
Astros LHP Dallas Keuchel vs. Indians RHP Corey Kluber
Dallas Keuchel has the highest ERA of the starting 5 for the Astros but don’t let that fool you. The former Cy Young award winner has a better than average 3.43 ERA. In his last start, also against the Indians, it was Keuchel’s second shortest of the season when he gave up four runs in five innings. However, Keuchel does own a 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA at Progressive Field.
In this second matchup between former Cy Young winners, Kluber looks to get the better of Keuchel again. In his last start against Keuchel, Kluber allowed two runs and six hits with ten strikeouts to get the road win. He will look to add another win to his stellar 2018 campaign. He currently has a 7-2 record with a 2.36 ERA.
Saturday:
Padres RHP Jordan Lyles vs. Dodgers LHP Alex Wood
Jordan Lyles has been pitching well as of late with a 2.50 ERA in his last three. Two starts ago, Jordan tried to make Padres history as he took a perfect game into the 8thinning. If he succeeded, it would have been the first perfect game/no hitter in team history.
Dodgers lefty Alex Wood took home his first victory in the 2018 season with a quality start over the Nationals in his last start. Even though his 1-4 record doesn’t show it, Wood has only given up 3 or more runs in 3 of his 10 starts.
Sunday:
Astros RHP Gerrit Cole vs. Indians RHP Trevor Bauer
Gerrit Cole will continue his excellent season with his first start at Progressive Field against the pitcher who accused him of cheating, Trevor Bauer. Cole sports a 1.86 ERA in his first season with the Astros and that number is good enough for second in the AL.
Trevor Bauer will make his first start against the Astros this season on Sunday. He will face a tough task against the potent Astros lineup that will be looking to do some damage against him after he accused their pitcher of cheating. So far, Bauer has a great 2.36 ERA at home.
