Beers of this week. Kereru Black Ruby Imperial Stout & Food Matching Salsiccia Sarda Piccante.

That does looks doesn't it?
Hello beer lovers. Meat lovers. Steemians.
I've got a new phone and that also means new camera and better low light pictures! I will write a long post on my new Samsung S8 and how this camera compares to a old compact camera like the Canon power shot.
But first its time for this post about the different kinds of beer I had this week. Starting with the most impressive / exclusive one of the pack.
The Kereru Black Ruby Imperial Stout.
Style | Stout - Russian Imperial |
Alcohol | 11.1% |
Brewery | Kereru |
Location | Upper Hutt, Wellington New Zealand |
Description | Black ruby is a rich dark imperial stout infused with dominican cacao nibs, Roast coffee beans, And raspberries, Bursting with intense roasted coffee and bitter chocolate flavours, Rich velvety mouthfeel and lingering raspberry notes. |
Description internet | This Russian Imperial Stout, a style that has it's roots in British brewing exports into Russia in the 18th century, is deep and lush. The black malts give layers of complexity along with added cacao nibs, coffee and raspberries. brewed for GABS 2016 |
▇ ▅ █ | ▇ ▅ █ |
Smell & Aroma | Sweetish. not to strong. like most stouts the coffee and chocolate is there. |
Bottle design | Design made it stand out enough to be noticed on the lowest shelf. When moving it around it has a nice shine of reflection to it. Its quickly clear what you are buying and how much % it is. |
Appearance | The beer itself looks really dark as expected from a imperial stout. However there was no foam or carbonation explosion that i was expecting when opening and pouring it. |
Taste | Strong taste for the average of beers. But compared to other 11% beers or imperial stouts I had this one is quite the timid one. Its drinkable enough for wine lovers. |

Notes | It could have had some more bitter or foam and carbonation. It goes well with the Salsiccia Sarda Piccante. As this is a hot and salty snack. |
Online Rating | This beer gets a average of 4/5 stars on Untappd |
Rating | 3.75/5 I am very strict on my ratings so 3 is considered good. 4 is excellent and 5 is perfect. |
Food Matching.
Now lets talk more about this Salsiccia Sarda Piccante. If you google it up it states that this is a salami from Sardinia. A island between Italy and Tunisia.
To find something like this I've searched for a long long time while being in Melbourne. I figured the people here don't eat much dried sausage. Only soft juicy plastic packed sausages. Instead I was looking for Spanish Fuet or Baton Pur Porc a French Saucisson
That I think are not considered salami's. However I think this is something exclusively to Europe.
This Australian made version I found at the Melba's Food Hall. I have to say I do think its decent enough. It is just less fresh and a whole lot more expensive! 1 kilogram of this will lose you 50 Australian dollar. I've paid around 10 dollar for the amount seen on the picture(1 half). In Holland you get 1 full sausage for around 3 euros.
As for the other beers of this week.
Every beer that I have I will try to post about. But if they are not that great its no point in going into detail. If you want to know more about a beer I had comment and I will give you all the detail you need.
This one was pretty basic. It got the minimal requirements for being a stout and said. THAT IS IT. ITS DONE. SELL IT.
Next one is better with a coffee coffee coffee taste.
Last one is a Japanese brand. Interesting note:
This beer was previously known as Kirin Ichiban First Press and has been re-branded to Kirin Megumi in Australia and New Zealand. Under the agreement the Japanese-brewed versions of this beer have ceased to be imported into Australia and New Zealand. They have been replaced with the locally brewed version that is brewed and bottled at Lion Nathan’s Malt Shovel Brewery in Camperdown, Sydney. This beer features new packaging graphics will be unique to Australia and New Zealand. - Source unknown. Untappd.
Closing Note.
