My daughter bought me some beers for father's day. I got them early as she was home a couple of weeks ago before going to Download Festival. She lives down in Portsmouth and has now found three breweries there. The latest is Makemake Brewing. The first I tried is called Other Beings That Wonder and is described as a sour IPA. That did not bode too well as I have tried sour beers before and they were not to my taste.
It contains pineapple and tea which are not things I like much. I tried it anyway. I pricked my thumb on some wire in the garden yesterday, hence the plaster.
It is a slightly cloudy yellow. My fears were confirmed and it was too much for me. I drank it anyway as I cannot stand waste. It is a shame when you end up with something not to your taste. I dropped a hint that I prefer more traditional beers. I think that generally adding fruit is a bad move.
Dinner was a veggie burger with wedges, onion rings and salad with some added mayonnaise and chilli sauce whilst we watched The Orville. That is a fun spook on Star Trek.
You may notice a space theme across these beers. Most seem to be more standard ales, but Tides of Titan is a gose that also contains tea. I shall have to see if I like that any better.
We each have our own tastes. I know some people love pineapple, but it does nothing for me. When I go to a beer festival I will try some beers that sound like they offer something different, but there is the option to just have a small amount to taste.
Cheers!
