Its Black Friday. A day to shop and be merry especially when Christmas is around the corner. Amidst the cheer and laughter, there is a war ongoing in the Steemit Community. The war of flags.
Personally I love this man. Been following his campaign trail in the United States, but the two most unscrupulous candidates were pitted against each other and America having to choose the lesser of two evils. Well, do you really have a choice between the devil and the deep blue sea? Technically, you do. It is choice nevertheless.
Knowing the Crusade
I find it quite interesting and intriguing at the same time watching the personalities go into a flagging rampage. Parties that are deemed to be abusing the spirit of the steemit community has been flagged. It is not easy to flag someone when that person is a whale. The one man who took the crusade to a whole new level is none other than 'the good whale'.
It is not that I am fully supportive of the entire flagging exercise. There are casualties as well. There could be 'circle jerkers' but again if these people are just minnows trying to survive and the only way they could make a decent USD0.20 a day is by having their own circle of self support. That didn't seem wrong to me.
What would seem wrong is when people who are in receipt of delegation for a specific purpose misuses that delegation and do it for their cronies. That is WRONG.
Finding the Needle in the Haystack
Well in this entire flagging exercise what is commendable is the effort by @littleboy to uncover plagiarised works that has escaped bots such as @cheetah. Pretty good detective skills if you ask me. The last few days, it has just been about reading the skirmishes that has taken place and how @surpassingoogle has been accused of cronyism.
Why Steemit the Best
People want the war to stop. To me this war has no physical victim but it is also a mark of a thriving economy. We ask for a system that has no censure, a system that is free from central regulation, well you have it. It is a thriving decentralised system. There are some good whales that are doing the community a favour, there are selfish whales that cares for their pockets but again, isn't that the real life that we face each time we walk out our cosy homes.
Why is it that when it happens in steemitropolis, it seems too shocking to be swallowed. It is time for us to bury the hypocrisy and accept the reality of the game. I would want steemit to stand for a strong solid platform with good contents, but at the same time I think the real check and balance is the community itself. That is what made Steemit great!
So we are reminded that there is a dark crusader that do strike some fear every now and then. So here goes...#bernieblackfriday
