Some facts about Donetsk
Everyone knows that the previous name of the city was Stalino, but it is mistakenly believed that the city was named after Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin. In fact, the city was named in honor of the leader, but another - after the death of Lenin in 1924, the Executive Committee of Yuzovka decided that the symbol characterizing the leaders of the world proletariat would be steel (stal' on Russian) and rename the city to Stalino. Few people know that while all this was coordinated and defined with a new name, the city was called Trotsk for several days.
