
If Biden wanted unity and an end to political violence, he would have spent some time calling out the substantial political violence on his own side. He'd have turned that into an olive branch and called for a truce.
Why didn’t he?
Because this wasn’t a call to unity. It was a call to “submit or else" — his "Control of the Nation" speech.
It was no accident that he called one side of the country a "clear and present danger," a phrase with a very specific meaning and implication.
There's no more cowardly way to declare war on your political enemies than by doing so under the guise of unity.
