Anno was born from a Vietnamese refugee family, with both his parents having to come to the U.S when they were teenagers. He was always an unusual child. For a starter, he always struggled with comprehending most things. With an IQ of 75, he was sent to special ed by the time he turned 8 years old. He has a younger sister named Andrea, who was diligent and intelligent. His father had an arrangement living for him. Knowing he would not be able to make his own living.
Despite the constant taunt from the typically healthy peers, Anno was resilient and diligent. He spent more effort on understanding the things he was incapable of. The more the barrier came, the more eager he was to climb over it. His tenacity astounded his family. More so, he was an unusual person even for someone with ID. He was always able to see events before they happen. From an toddler age, he would have flashing visions when he touched certain objects. Unable to comprehend this, he remained calm about it.
Humans are mainly formed by puzzles to him. The most mysterious puzzle piece was his friend Kassaine. A former childhood friend, and perhaps the only peer his age, except his sister, who ever treated him with warmth and respect. The two of them remained close until they reached 15, where she became callous towards him. Anno knew that she had her new group of friends, ones that were as intellectually competent as herself. With her new boyfriend and friends, she happily shut him out of her life. Anno was still in a special school, but saw her every weekend.
It didn't surprise Andrea, hearing her brother's cries around how much he misses his friend. Kassaine has always been very carefree, physically attractive and simple-minded. She simply encouraged him to make new friends, despite knowing the challenges it would be. Right throughout the years of puberty, his sister attempted to help him associate with other people like him. Astonished as she was, Anno found many others with similar intellect to be rather dull.
"Kassaine!!" Anno shouted with buoyance. "You're such my sweet lady, looking beautiful!"
"Is that...........is he retarded?" one of the girls with a thick nose ring scoffed.
"Yeah, this is Anno I was telling you about," Kassaine replied, while rolling her eyes at him. "Anyhow, we better get going babe!"
"Huh, didn't know you were collecting the feeble-minds!" a male that stood at 6 foot said. Looking at Anno with a blank expression.
Since then, Kassaine cut off contact with him. He would sometimes see her in the streets, with yet a different male partner to the last. They would talk in a language that sounded rather obnoxious to him. Anno quickly forgot about her, due to his terrible ability to visualize through his mind. The visions became less oblivious to him. He knew they were not simply things that came from his dreams. He would touch a tree branch or a bark, and there would be a story visualized for him to see.
His confusion only ended when he met a group of teenagers. There were three males and one female. The tallest male appeared to be the leader of the group. They saw him walking home from his education institution one evening, so they quickly sieged him to a corner. With constant paranoia and anxiety, Anno knew he was in trouble. Just as he was taking out the cash he earnt last summer, the girl gesticulated for him to stop. The two males next to the tallest one began whispering.
"It's okay, we're not gonna ask for your wallet," Gwendolyn said, while offering out a hand. "Please, stay calm...........it's okay!"
"It is.......you're no robber?" Anno said, in his slow and muttering tone like usual.
"I think he's intellectually disabled," Malachi whispered to the female. "Should we just leave him be. Surely, he can't be the precognist we're looking for."
"According to Mazoon, this is the right person!" Ambroise muttered, while pulling out a small photo from his pocket.
"Tell me, have you ever had any visions?" Anthony sternly asked. "Like, things you see that happens before it happens?"
Anno pulled out a bemused face. They knew he did not comprehend anything they were asking him about. Ambroise and Malachi were losing their patience, but sharpily cut out by Gwendolyn. The began whispering among themselves. Seeing their indecipherable expressions made him have that similar sense in his abdomein. The similar type of sensation that resembled something he felt when Kassaine began ignoring him. He put both his hands to his ears, while crouching down against the wall. The image of that autumn leaf brushing against his window was shown again.
"He's tearing up!!" Gwendolyn said out of the blue. "Guys, this is really despicable of us to do this. He doesn't understand!" she approached him and began comforting him. "Cut it succinct and comprehensable for him!"
"Anno, is that your name?" Anthony asked with less of a sharp tone. "I'm Anthony, this is Gwendolyn, and they are Ambroise and Malachi. We're psychics, what you can call as wizards."
"Oh, wizards now?" Malachi scoffed, while laughing off with Ambroise. "So now we're going to make it like a child's comic for him?"
"Wait!!" Anno abruptly shouted. "I think I've seen you guys somewhere before, I've seen you when I touched a metal pole.............somewhere before!"
"Oh, so he does have visions. Maybe our shrink wasn't that delusional afterall!" Ambroise scoffed, while turning away from them.
"Anno, you're special," Gwendolyn quietly said with a smile over her face. "You're a precognist, the one we're looking for!"
"Still not sure if he is the one yet. But if he is, then we might as well tell him," Anthony said while sitting next to him.
The next few days, they took him to a shelter. That was what it appeared to be, despite Gwendolyn telling him it was just a "hut of concealment". They began discussing what he could only comprehend as ideas. Little would he be able to know they would be going to the psychic realm shortly afterwards. Although he was as bemused as the next person, he remained diligent in the responsibilities they gave him. Some of the sights he would witness was too fast to memorize, or even catch a glimpse of identifying it. It became overwhelming.
