Hello Stemians,
BitBay, the decentralized blockchain-based global marketplace, released the Android version of their wallet a couple of days ago. Here are my impressions:
So yeah, it was easy to install. I just went to their website and scrolled down to the Android link.
It downloaded immediately and I installed. (Hope this site doesn't get hacked one day.)
Well hey, it looks a lot like the web wallet, it even has the same warning message in that weirdly high contrast box.
But yeah, I signed in and was able to view my wallet status.
It's stored on the cloud, so can be accessed on anything with a web connection, just like the web wallet site itself on a phone:
I would show you the rest of the interface but it kicked me out after I went to another app to upload these screenshots. I didn't feel like logging back in and it doesn't show a "Remember Me" check, so.. eh I'll just uninstall it and use the web wallet on my phone if I needed to.
I'd rather the keys be stored on the phone and NOT using the cloud (or using it by choice) but I guess nobody suggested that. It might've needed to store the entire blockchain; I could give them that. I just hope their servers are decentralized just like their blockchain.
Overall, it was a lot of waiting for an obsolete product. I hope this thing comes with the full marketplace.
The next thing to look forward to is March 14th for their UI update; a really long time from now. Imagine if an EOS-based marketplace gained attention. Syscoin is still ahead in the game. Ebay and Craigslist accepting cryptos could keep the masses occupied for a while. BitBay, hurry up and get gud.
