I am so PUMPED right now because I have finally reached my goal of owning 1 full bitcoin! It has never felt so good to be one in 21 million. <3
A few months ago, I wrote a POST talking a bit more about my crypto investment strategy and that my latest goal was to reach one full bitcoin. After several months of hustling hard, I have finally arrived. In this video, I discuss why I think having some bitcoin in your portfolio is key.
Before we get into that though... I need to give a disclaimer! I am not an investment professional or financial planner of any kind. Please make sure you are doing your research and making decisions that are smart for YOU. If you are not sure what that looks like, perhaps finding an investment professional that understands the crypto market would be a good next step for you.
Why Invest in Bitcoin?
When I first joined the platform, I didn't have a penny of crypto to my name. A lot has changed in the last 8 months though. I have gone all in and have been funneling whatever fiat savings I can into the crypto market, in addition to investing my Steem earnings into (more Steem) and other coins.
I have not taken a single penny of my Steemit earnings out of the crypto market.
Don't get me wrong... I think the freedom Steem has afforded people is amazing. I just really believe in the future of this space and don't want to pull out anything until I really need it.
Even though those of us who are are involved in the crypto space tend to think, "But there are so many better coins out there!". Yes, this may be true, but there are still plenty of reasons to own Bitcoin.
It is still the "King of Crypto" and isn't likely to be de-throned anytime soon.
Bitcoin also has the greatest brand recognition of any coin in the space. As new investors look to expand their portfolios to include cryptocurrencies - they are likely to start with Bitcoin.
It is still the trading pair with most coins. This gives Bitcoin an incredible amount of value because we are basically forced to use it anytime we want to trade between coins or withdraw funds.
The long term potential value of Bitcoin is tremendous.
But Investing in Alt Coins is More Fun!
I literally could not agree more. That is part of why up until two months ago, I had spent all of my investment dollars in alt coins like Steem, NEO, EOS, Bitshares and more. There is something so exciting about supporting a coin that you think is "up and coming". There can also be tremendous rewards for accurately spotting an alt coin that might take off in it's infancy.
I hope one day we are all saying that about Steem! For example, I got into NEO when it was around $20. Although that does not make me an "early adopter" by any stretch - it still means I have made a fabulous return. Especially when it got as high as $170 months ago.
All of this to say, it can be easy to get swept up in the excitement of finding alt coins that you want to support. I hope that this article has encouraged you to consider adding more of the "bedrock" coins like Bitcoin and even Etherium into the mix for you.
