I've been following what the Bank of England (BOE) are doing and it is evident that cash as we know it today will be replaced. It's just a matter of when. I wouldn't be as certain of this fact if it wasn't for the fact that they have been running a digital currency department for a few years and have completed testing cryptocurrency with the use of Ripple. Watch out for news of a newer, better government backed cryptocurrency coming soon as suggested by the FED. If the US do something, you'll definitely find the UK will follow.
