Bitcoin's "dominance" of the cryptocurrency market has fallen to 33.3 percent Thursday, according to CoinMarketCap. Albeit still the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, Bitcoin's market share is currently hitting record lows, as alt coins are collectively soaring in price to begin 2018 and the Bitcoin price is remaining relatively stable over the first four days of the year.
Here is a screenshot of Bitcoin at exactly 33.3 percent of the total cryptocurrency market, taken at approximately 6:40 p.m. GMT Thursday. The CoinMarketCap chart shows Bitcoin's market share has fallen on Thursday to as low as 32.76 percent. Meanwhile, Ripple has shot up to about $3.50 in price, $135 million in market cap and more than 18 percent in cryptocurrency market share. Ethereum, which has risen to above $1,000 in price and approximately $100 million in market cap, represents about 13 percent of the overall cryptocurrency market.
