Cryptic Legends Announced Pre-sale

Gorotas Game Studio has announced the pre-sale date for their upcoming collectible trading card game Cryptic Legends. They will start selling card packages on August 2nd 2020. The packs will be priced between four and six euro. Everybody who buys a pack during the pre-sale, will become part of the Founders program.

The packs contain hero cards of various rarity, and those can come from three different cultures from Bronze Age civilizations. Players are also free to boost the powers of their heroes by equipping items, legendary talents and different skills. Players will be able to do this as often as they want. The Founders program gives players access go special in-game rewards.

Players need to assemble a team of heroes, and send them on missions. Battles against other players are automated and turn-based. Gamers who are interested can try the game out through Apple Testflight and Google Play Early Access.

Running on Aeternity

Most trading card games run on the Ethereum blockchain, with Splinterlands being an exception as it uses Hive. Cryptic Legends will be using the Aethernity blockchain. All cards are stored on the blockchain, giving players ownership over their own assets.

Aeternity is a rather small blockchain. In terms of market cap it just fall outside the top 100 blockchains according to Coinmarketcap. The organization behind the blockchain has been formed in 2016, while the mainnet has been live since 2018. The platform positions itself as a scalable and secure blockchain for decentralized applications. It uses sharding as its main proposition for scaling.

Trading card games still in high-demand

Gods Unchained and Splinterlands were two of the first major trading card games on the blockchain. Since they hit the market, the craze surrounding the card game genre never ceased to exist. Each of these games often does something different. For example, Synergy of Serra focuses on a niche gameplay mechanic from table-top card games. In addition there are titles like Skyweaver, Dark Country, Tides of Magic, while Sorare brings fantasy football to the blockchain.

With 457 ETH in trading volume in the past seven days, Sorare is currently the biggest player on the market for trading card games. They are followed by Gods Unchained (57 ETH) and CryptoSpells (8 ETH). However, this data comes from Opensea and only focuses on the Ethereum blockchain. Dark Country is running on Wax, while Cryptic Legends is coming to Aeternity.
